Erik holds a doctorate in education and has served as a primary teacher of record for grades K-8. Dr. Bean specializes in using technology in the classroom as well as for distance learning and has taught hundreds of children and adults about the potential dangers of the Internet including isolation and information bias, some of the most destructive forces of our time. He has written numerous educational titles such as Social Media Writing Lesson Plans (2015) published via Westphalia Press, a 2020 Royal Dragonfly Award Winner, Ethan's Healthy Mind Express: A Children's First Mental Health Primer, and his latest summer 2021 release: Bias Is All Around You: A Handbook for Vetting Information.

He also is director of the Ethan Bean Mental Wellness Foundation, a Michigan 501(c)3 non-profit charity and is an outspoken advocate for neurodiversity inclusion. Erik and his team have been featured at the National Council of Teachers of English: 2021 Children's Literacy & Language Arts Summer Institute and have been featured in several TV spots and podcasts.
