Children’s illustrator Jeffrey Lindberg has created beautiful painterly illustrations for all genres of children’s books. Once a longtime resident of Brooklyn who visited Coney Island from time to time, this magical place provided him the idea to author a children’s book.

Jeffrey wanted to write and illustrate a book about Coney Island that was historically accurate, while still being a fictional story. Jeffrey did a lot of research for his book, finding historical facts and details of the park, as well as archival photographs, on which he based his story’s paintings. He hopes his readers will come away from his book with a newfound knowledge of the history of Coney Park and also with a sense of amazement that such a wonderful place existed on the shores of Brooklyn back in 1904!

For the past twenty years, Jeffrey has been teaching art and design as an adjunct professor at several colleges in the New York City metropolitan area. Currently teaching illustration and computer graphics at Kean University in New Jersey since 2002, Jeffrey has shared his book progress with his students to encourage them to tell their own stories.

After living in Brooklyn for thirty years Jeffrey and his family have moved to South Orange NJ, just a stones throw from Brooklyn.

Speaking Engagements and School Visits:

For many years, I have held positions as an adjunct professor at local colleges, teaching digital media, art and design courses. Over these years, I’ve also been lucky enough to receive invitations from public elementary schools across New Jersey—it is this work that I am so excited now to continue.

I am extremely receptive to what faculty, librarians, and administrators think will best benefit the children and to collaborate with each school’s parent/teacher association. I might offer a variety of age-appropriate, interactive experiences wherein the students can meet a “real” author, learn and share what they know about creative processes, create their own art alongside me and watch local history come alive.
