Promoviendo la herencia hispana

Promoting Hispanic Heritage

Raynelda is the author of three children's biography books: Little Giants: 10 Hispanic Women Who Made History, Maria Montez, The Queen of Technicolor, Mama Tingo, and the bilingual fiction book, We The Dreamers. Raynelda has a doctorate in leadership in education and works as a public librarian. Her work with children inspires her to write about the accomplishments of Hispanic figures in history. Through her writing, she hopes to inspire young readers to follow their passions and never take no for an answer. Raynelda lives in New York with an untamed Shih Tzu, Toby, and a much-attached Chihuahua, Maya. She spends her free time thinking (and drafting) about books to write, or painting, crocheting, or crying over abused dogs.

Speaking Engagements and School Presentations:

Through my readings (virtual or in person), I hope to inspire children today to accomplish great things tomorrow, based on the example of role models of past and present. In my presentations, children will discover the extraordinary lives of lesser-known Hispanic female figures who fought for the rights of those who had no voice, and their contributions to history and society. I would love to visit your school for Hispanic Heritage Month, Women History Month, or for the celebration of the independence of a Latin American country!
